Neemuch, April 17: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing the 86th Raising Day of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, declared that Naxalism—now limited to just four districts—will be completely eradicated by March 31, 2026. He credited the CRPF, particularly its elite CoBRA unit, as the driving force behind this mission.

Shah highlighted the success of over 400 forward operating bases set up by the CRPF in Naxal-hit areas, which, he said, has led to a more than 70% reduction in violence. “Today, even the most dreaded Naxals fear the name of CoBRA,” he remarked, calling the battalion a symbol of unmatched bravery and jungle warfare expertise.

The minister praised the CRPF for its consistent role in securing India—whether battling terrorism in Kashmir, ensuring peace in the Northeast, or pushing back Left-wing extremism. “Whenever the CRPF is deployed, I feel assured of success,” he said, adding that the force’s contribution to national unity is unparalleled.

Reflecting on the sacrifices of the personnel, Shah noted that 2,264 CRPF personnel have laid down their lives in service to the nation. He said their families’ contributions would be remembered with honor as India progresses toward becoming a global power by 2047.

The event, part of the extended celebrations of CRPF’s Raising Day—typically observed on March 19—was held on April 17 this year. The CRPF traces its roots to Neemuch, where it was first formed as the Crown Representative Police in 1939, later renamed by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in 1949.

The CRPF was officially presented its flag on March 19, 1950, by then Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Over the decades, the force has played key roles in state integration, internal security, counter-terrorism, disaster response, and international peacekeeping.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also attended the event today.
