Kamrup, Nov 17: In a significant operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Assam police successfully discovered and confiscated a substantial amount of heroin valued at approximately Rs 11 crore in the Kamrup district of Assam. Additionally, two drug peddlers were apprehended in connection with the seizure.
A team of STF led by Parthasarathi Mahanta, DIG (STF), and Kalyan Kumar Pathak, Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ), Kamrup cum Additional SP, STF, executed the operation on Thursday night.
Based on information from sources, an STF team conducted an operation and stopped a car near Amingaon in Kamrup district. The car was coming from Churachandpur district in Manipur, according to DIG (STF) Partha Sarathi Mahanta.
“During the search of the vehicle, the STF team recovered and seized 98 packets of heroin weighing 1.350 kg (without cover) concealed in the hidden chambers of the vehicle. We apprehended two drug peddlers. The market value of the seized drugs is estimated at around Rs 11 crore,” Mahanta stated.Top of Form
The drug dealers who were caught were recognized as Abdul Rahim from Lilong (Manipur) and Tomizur Rahman from Wangoi.
The STF police station has started the necessary legal proceedings.
