At the launch held at the BJP’s state headquarters, Marandi unveiled stickers, posters, pamphlets, notepads, and pledge letters designed to spread awareness about the movement. He was joined by State Coordinator and General Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, State Media In-charge Shivpujan Pathak, and State Spokesperson Avinesh Kumar Singh.

‘Swadeshi in Every Home’

Speaking at the press conference, Marandi said the campaign’s message of “Swadeshi in every home” should become a guiding principle for all citizens. “By promoting Swadeshi and adopting Indian-made products in daily life, every citizen can contribute to making India self-reliant by 2047,” he said.

He announced that the BJP would hold Swadeshi conferences across all 81 assembly constituencies in Jharkhand and launch a door-to-door outreach campaign to encourage people to support local industries and products.

Historical Roots of Swadeshi

Marandi highlighted India’s strong economic past, noting that during the Mauryan era in 125 BC, India accounted for 33 per cent of the world’s GDP, and in the 16th century, the share stood at 24.4 per cent. “By 1947, because of colonial exploitation, our share had fallen to just 4 per cent,” he said.

He reminded that during the freedom struggle, leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had used the Swadeshi movement as a tool of resistance, which played a major role in achieving independence.

India’s Growth Under Modi Government

Marandi credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for reviving the spirit of Swadeshi and pushing India towards economic self-reliance. “Under Modi ji’s leadership, India has surpassed Britain to become the world’s fourth-largest economy,” he said.

He cited data showing that India has attracted $667 billion in investment through the Make in India initiative, with 99.2 per cent of mobile phones sold in the country now being manufactured domestically. Mobile phone exports, he said, have risen from ₹1,500 crore to ₹2 lakh crore, while toy exports have increased by 239 per cent.

India now ranks first in tractor manufacturing, second in bus production, and third in heavy truck manufacturing. The country is also the sixth-largest exporter of textiles, and its defence exports have increased 34 times in recent years.

Expanding Self-Reliance

Marandi pointed out that India exports pharmaceuticals to 200 countries and optical fibre to over 100 nations. The country ranks third globally in solar energy capacity and fourth in wind energy, marking steady progress towards sustainable self-reliance.

He said the growing interest in Swadeshi among the youth was a positive sign. “The young generation will become the architects of a self-reliant India,” he said, appealing to people to buy Indian-made products, especially during upcoming festivals like Diwali and Chhath Puja.
