Ranchi, August 27: BJP State President Babulal Marandi on Tuesday accused Congress, JMM, and RJD of opposing the State Identification Register (SIR) for “vote bank politics,” alleging that these parties are helping settle Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslims in Jharkhand and turning them into voters.
‘Tribal Society Under Direct Threat’
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office, Marandi said the biggest impact of this demographic change will fall on Jharkhand’s tribal population. He alleged that many Rohingya and Bangladeshi Muslims have married tribal women, with some even becoming Mukhiya and Zila Parishad members. “If this continues, tomorrow they will become MLAs and MPs as well,” he warned.

Population Data Raises Concerns
Citing census figures, Marandi said tribals declined from 35.38% in 1951 to 26.20% in 2011, while Muslims grew from 8.9% to 14.53% in the same period. “Such a sharp rise cannot be natural; it is due to continuous infiltration,” he claimed, accusing opposition parties of providing infiltrators with voter IDs, ration cards, and land.
Voter Growth ‘Unnatural’ Under Current Govt
Marandi highlighted sharp jumps in voter numbers. Between 2019 and 2024, the voter base in Jharkhand grew 16.7%, compared to the national average of 10.1%. He called this a clear sign of infiltration-backed voter registration.
He also shared constituency-level data:
- Simdega Assembly: Muslim voters rose 78.4% (2019–2024), while non-Muslims increased only 7.2%.
- Jagannathpur Assembly (Kolhan): Muslim voters grew 52%, non-Muslims only 13%.
“This is planned demographic change,” Marandi said.
Fake Documents and Schemes Misused
Marandi also pointed to large-scale irregularities in issuing birth certificates and extending schemes like Maiyaan Yojana to non-eligible groups. “In villages without a single Muslim family, hundreds of birth certificates were made. Many beneficiaries were traced to Murshidabad and Malda,” he alleged.
‘Election Transparency at Stake’
Marandi concluded that Congress, JMM, and RJD are blocking the Election Commission’s efforts to clean up voter lists. “They want to protect fake voters. This is not just a Jharkhand issue — it’s a matter of national concern,” he said.
