Ranchi, July 21: BJP state president and former chief minister Babulal Marandi today staged a sit-in protest along with various tribal organizations in Morhabadi ground against the looting of the tribal land in the State by land mafias.
Speaking on this occasion, Marandi said that in the last five years, hundreds of acres of raiyati land of poor tribals have been occupied by openly violating the CNT-SPT Act under the protection of the JMM-Congress government.
No rehabilitation of displaced people
He said that after Independence, under the Congress government, factories were opened; mines and dams were built, which led to large-scale displacement of tribals. “Villages were destroyed but the Congress party did not worry about the rehabilitation of the displaced people. The population of tribals kept decreasing due to displacement,” he pointed out.

He said that those who are guilty of this are calling themselves well-wishers of the tribals. But they are not taking any initiative to solve this, he added.
Tribal society is in danger
He said that today the tribal society is in danger through land mafias as well as land jihad, love jihad and the people sitting in power in the state are protecting them. “In such a situation, every kind of conspiracy is being hatched to reduce the population of the tribals,” he alleged.
He said that in such a situation, after delimitation, the number of the assembly and Lok Sabha seats of the tribals will decrease.
He assured various tribal organizations that he was with them in their fight.
He said that those who are cheating the tribal society in the name of tribals are criminals. “They deserve punishment. The public will punish them,” he said.
No action against guilty officials
He said that the state government should explain how the mutation of the land taken by land mafias from the tribals is done. “Why action is not taken against the guilty officials?” he asked.
He again reiterated that it is clear from this that the state government is protecting the land mafias.
