Ranchi, January 5: Bank employees across Jharkhand, under the banner of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on Monday held a massive demonstration and dharna at Naga Baba Khatal in Ranchi, demanding the implementation of a five-day work week.

UFBU Warns Centre of Intensified Protest

Addressing the gathering, UFBU leaders warned the central government that if the demand for a five-day week is not accepted, the agitation would be intensified in the coming days.

They also reminded that bank employees have already announced a nationwide strike on January 27 in support of their demands.

Employees from Various Banks Participate

UFBU leaders claimed that employees from different banks and banking organisations participated in large numbers in the dharna and displayed unity and solidarity on the common demand of a five-day work week.

“All unions under the United Forum of Bank Unions have agreed on the five-day work week demand and will jointly work to achieve it,” the leaders said.

Leaders Address Dharna, Announce Agitation Plan

UFBU leaders Prakash Oraon, Manoj Kumar, Kunal Kumar, Shashi Kant, Jyotiswar Pandey, S.K. Pandey, M.L. Singh, and Manish Singh addressed the dharna and announced the future course of agitation to press for the fulfilment of their demand.
