Jamshedpur, September 29: The literary and cultural wing of the Bihar Association, Dinkar Parishad, organised a grand celebration of Dinkar Jayanti at the Rajendra Vidyalaya Auditorium as part of the association’s centenary celebrations.
The programme was presided over by Bihar Association president B.N. Chaudhary. Tarun Kumar, former head of the Hindi Department at Patna University and former principal of Patna College, was the chief guest, while Arvind Kumar Singh, grandson of Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’, attended as the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Kumar said the Bihar Association’s completion of 100 years and its continued efforts to promote literature and culture through Dinkar Parishad were a matter of pride. Describing Dinkar as the “poet of the people”, he said the poet’s writings directly engaged with society and contemporary issues.
Arvind Kumar Singh shared anecdotes from Dinkar’s life and literary journey and said his writings reflected Indian culture, patriotism, self-respect and human values. He stressed the need for more literary and cultural programmes to connect younger generations with Dinkar’s works.
The programme began with the unveiling of Dinkar’s portrait, followed by garlanding and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Kritika, a student of Rajendra Vidyalaya, presented the mangalacharan.
Poetry recitations by winners of various competitions organised by Dinkar Parishad formed part of the programme. In the concluding session, prizes were presented to the winners by Tarun Kumar and Arvind Kumar Singh.
The programme was conducted by Bihar Association member Bhavesh Kumar. Kritika presented Saraswati Vandana, while Bihar Association general secretary C.P.N. Singh proposed the vote of thanks.
