Patna, Nov 4: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday outlined a set of key welfare measures for farmers, women, and government employees, promising sweeping changes if the alliance comes to power in Bihar.

Addressing the concerns of the farming community, Yadav pledged an additional Rs 300 per quintal for paddy and Rs 400 per quintal for wheat over the Minimum Support Price (MSP). He also promised free electricity for irrigation, saying these steps would significantly boost rural income and agricultural productivity.

Yadav said that all government employees—including police personnel, teachers, and health workers—would be posted within a 70-kilometre radius of their home district to ensure greater convenience and stability in their service.

Focusing on women’s empowerment, he reiterated the Mai Behen Maan Yojana, under which Rs 30,000 will be directly transferred into the accounts of eligible women on January 14, coinciding with Makar Sankranti. He described it as a gesture of financial relief for women struggling with rising inflation, calling it a “new year gift” from a government committed to their welfare.

“The enthusiasm among our mothers and sisters for this scheme gives us confidence that the government will be formed on their trust and support,” Yadav said, adding that the Mahagathbandhan government would prioritize the needs of farmers and working families alike.
