Patna, Sept 18: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday announced that unemployed graduates in the state will now receive financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month for up to two years under the Mukhyamantri Nishchay Swayam Sahayta Bhatta Yojana.

The scheme, earlier restricted to youths who had only cleared their intermediate examinations, has been widened to include graduates from arts, science, and commerce streams.

Beneficiaries must fall within the 20–25 age bracket, not be enrolled in further studies, and remain without self-employment, government, private, or non-government jobs.

Kumar shared the update on X, noting that this expansion comes under the state government’s “seven resolves” programme and aims to support those actively preparing for employment.

The announcement comes at a politically significant time, with Bihar slated to hold Assembly elections later this year.
