BIT Sindri: Jamshedpur alumni body picks up eight girl techies for scholarship

Dhanbad, Nov 28: Jamshedpur chapter of the BIT Sindri Alumni Association (BITSAA) has selected eight girl engineering students of the institution for the scholarship.

The selected students are Sangita, a 2021 batch student of chemical engineering, Soumya, a 2021 batch student of information technology, Anshika (2022 batch), a student of the metallurgy department, Priya Kumari  (2023 batch), a chemical engineering student, Mridula Khushi (2022 batch), a student of the production and industrial department, Akshara Rajgaria, a 2023 batch student of the metallurgy department, Soumya Kumari, a 2023 batch civil engineering student and Muskan Kumari, a 2023 batch civil engineering student.

Alumni Pawan Ojha (1989 batch of electronic and communication engineering) will provide scholarships to Sangita and Soumya.

Amit Roy (1984 batch alumnus metallurgy) has selected Anshika and Priya Kumari while SS Raman (1984-1988 batch) has picked up Mridula Khushi.

Atul Roy (1985-1989 batch mechanical engineering) has selected Akshara Rajgaria. Dr Anil Ray, a 1989 batch alumnus (Mining) has picked up Soumya Kumari while SS Raman (Production engineering 1984 batch) has selected Muskan Kumari

Pawan Ojha initiated the project

The programme coordinator, Pawan Ojha (1989 batch), said they have launched the project under the ambitious programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’.

Jamshedpur chapter president Atul Roy has an ambitious plan to make this project a movement for uplifting weaker section engineering girl students. Pawan Ojha first initiated the project at the self-level with two students and now the Jamshedpur chapter has adopted it.

Performance review in one year

 The performance of the selected girl students would be reviewed after one year. If performance is found encouraging, the association would not only continue providing scholarships for next year but also increase the amount,” said Pawan Kumar Ojha, the joint secretary of the Jamshedpur chapter of the association.

BIT Director hails the initiative

BIT Director Pankaj Ray and Dean of Alumni Affairs, Prof Prakash Kumar, highly appreciated the move of the Jamshedpur chapter and have requested all alumni of the institution to join in this campaign.
