Dhanbad, May 2: The Department of Production and Industrial Engineering at B.I.T. Sindri is set to host a five-day national seminar on ‘Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing: Industry 4.0 and Beyond’ beginning May 5. The seminar will bring together technical experts, academicians, and industry professionals from across the country.

The event aims to explore the evolving landscape of Industry 4.0 and its future technological prospects. It will focus on themes such as cyber-physical systems, the industrial Internet of Things (IoT), and autonomous production systems.

Participation from Leading Institutions and Industries

Prominent speakers at the symposium will include Deepak Jain from SAIL (Ranchi), Dr. Alok Raj from XLRI (Jamshedpur), and Professor Somanath Chattopadhyay from IIT ISM Dhanbad. These experts will share their insights on emerging technologies and ongoing transformations in industrial practices.

Professor Prakash Kumar, Head of the Department of Production and Industrial Engineering and the convener of the event, along with coordinator Dr. Sumanto Mukherjee, said that the seminar’s core objective is to bridge the gap between academia, industry, and research.

“It will serve as a platform to bring together academicians, researchers, and industry experts to foster the exchange of ideas and encourage collaboration,” they said.

Hybrid Format to Ensure Wider Participation

Convener Prakash Kumar said that to accommodate a wider audience, the seminar will be held in hybrid mode, allowing participants to join both online and offline. This flexible format ensures that professionals and researchers from across the country can participate conveniently.

The expert lectures will provide attendees with in-depth knowledge of technological advancements and trends shaping the future of smart manufacturing. Discussions will highlight strategies for adopting sustainable and intelligent systems within the industrial ecosystem.

Focus on Research and Innovation

Out of the numerous research papers received from across India, 30 outstanding submissions have been selected for presentation during the seminar. These papers represent the latest innovations and research in the field.

The seminar marks a significant step in promoting collaboration among stakeholders and strengthening the academic and industrial synergy needed to drive sustainable growth in manufacturing.
