Daltonganj, June 7: Two-term BJP MLA from Panki Assembly constituency in Palamu district of Jharkhand has urged the Chief Minister Hemant Soren to look into the functioning of the Jharkhand Bhavan in Delhi.

The MLA Dr Shashi Bhushan Mehta alleged, “All is not well with the Jharkhand Bhavan in Delhi. Some shoddy dealings go on.”

Booking Denied Despite Confirmation
Narrating his ordeal, the BJP MLA said, “I had booked two rooms here. I was assured of my check in there. On Friday, I reached Jharkhand Bhavan. There I was curtly asked to move into one room, denying me the other one more room, saying all the rooms are under occupancy”.

“I asked the officials here as to how they can behave so, when my booking for two rooms was confirmed by them earlier. Again, when quite some rooms were unengaged, then why this denial of one more room to me,” quipped the BJP MLA.
He said, “I phoned our Speaker. I also phoned Kalpana Soren seeking her intervention.”

“Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, who is the BJP MP from Ranchi, was also apprised of my plight. I understand when phone calls started pouring in here for me, then the Jharkhand Bhavan officials conceded to give me one more room,” informed Mehta.
Call for Probe into Mismanagement
“It’s a height of indifference and apathy on the part of the management of the Jharkhand Bhavan in Delhi. Rooms remain unoccupied, but a narrative is built up of full occupancy of the Jharkhand Bhavan. It needs to be probed,” Mehta said.

On being reminded that a posh hotel is also in the panel of the check-in of the VIPs namely, ministers, legislators, members of Parliament from Jharkhand, to which Mehta said, “There is an attachment of a posh hotel too. But my contention is that when there is a confirmation of room booking in advance, how can there be a denial of the room? What does this all mean?”
Sources said this is the first episode of its kind when a sitting MLA had to spend anxious and tense hours sitting on the floor waiting for rooms he had booked earlier.
