Ranchi, July 7: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation, led by Jharkhand BJP State President Aditya Sahu, met Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the high-profile Himanshu Singh murder case in Jamshedpur.
The delegation urged the Governor to ensure a fair and transparent investigation into the murder, take strict action against those responsible, and secure justice for the victim’s family.
Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi, State Vice President Bhanu Pratap Shahi, State Secretary Shailendra Singh, State Spokesperson Abhay Singh, District President Sanjeev Sinha, the victim’s father Arvind Singh, and Shambhunath Singh were also part of the delegation.
BJP Alleges Failure of Law and Order
In the memorandum, the BJP alleged that Himanshu Singh, who was associated with the Karni Sena, was killed on June 27 after being dragged out of a police van by assailants in the Adityapur area of Jamshedpur.
The party claimed that another person injured in the incident, Pratyush Singh, is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kolkata.
The memorandum alleged that the incident reflected a serious breakdown of law and order in Jharkhand and questioned the role of police personnel present at the scene.
Demand for CBI Investigation
The BJP alleged that the state police were attempting to divert the investigation and called for an independent CBI inquiry to ensure an impartial probe.
The memorandum also alleged that police had wrongly implicated businessman Neeraj Singh, the operator of a licensed DD Bar, despite his absence from the premises at the time of the incident. It further claimed that his family had faced police harassment and questioned the seizure of his vehicles.
The party contended that action should also be taken against police personnel who were on duty during the incident, alleging negligence in preventing the attack and providing timely medical assistance.
Public Protest Cited
The memorandum referred to the bandh observed in Adityapur following the incident, claiming it reflected widespread public anger over the murder and the state’s law-and-order situation.
According to the BJP, a party delegation that visited the victim’s family found that local residents had expressed a lack of confidence in the ongoing investigation and demanded a CBI probe.
The party urged the Governor to intervene and recommend a CBI investigation, arguing that an independent agency would help ensure a transparent inquiry and justice for the victim’s family.
