Ranchi, February 7: Today, the Special Court granted 5  more days to interrogate former Chief Minister Hemant Soren in the land scam case.

After his five-day remand ended today, the ED produced Soren in the court and pleaded that his custody should be granted for 7 more days as the interrogation is yet to be concluded.

The court, however, granted the custody of 5 days more.

Notably, on Monday, the ED secured the remand of Revenue official Bhanu Pratap Prasad, a prime accused in the case, for four days.

Both Soren and Prasad have been confronted with questions on how the former controlled the possession of 8.5 acres of land near DAV School, Bariatu.

According to the ED, Bhanu Pratap Prasad was part of a syndicate involved in corrupt practices of acquiring properties forcefully and based on false deeds, falsifying government records, tampering with original revenue documents, etc.

Bhanu Pratap assisted Soren in illegally acquiring properties, including 8.5 acres of land in Bariatu.

The ED seized digital evidence from his mobile phone to show how he was involved in hatching conspiracies with other persons, including Hemant Soren, to acquire properties illegally.
