Ranchi, July 26: In an early morning administrative appointment, the Jharkhand government today appointed Anurag Gupta, a 1990 batch IPS officer, as the in-charge DGP of Jharkhand.
The Home Jail and Disaster Management Department issued a notification related to this on Friday.
Anurag Gupta is currently posted as CID DG. He is also the DG of Anti Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
Meanwhile, Gupta also assumed the charge of DGP in the State police headquarters.
Ajay Kumar Singh, earlier posted as Jharkhand DGP, has been made the MD of the Police Housing Corporation. According to the notification issued, Prashant Singh, MD of Police Housing Corporation, has been posted as DG Wireless.
Notably, Ajay Kumar Singh, a 1989-batch IPS officer, had been appointed as DGP on February 15 2023 after Neeraj Sinha was relieved on February 11.
Singh’s appointment had then put to rest the contempt proceedings against the Jharkhand government for the alleged violation of its judgement of two-year fixed tenure for a state police chief who has to be selected from a list to be prepared by the UPSC.
