THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Ranchi, March 2: The BJP today dropped Jayant Sinha from Hazaribag and Sudarshan Bhagat from Lohardaga in the first phase list of 11 Lok Sabha candidates released today.

The declaration of candidates for three seats-Chatra, Giridih and Dhanbad-has been put on hold.

The BJP ally AJSU party currently holds Giridih.

Jayant Sinha remained rooted in the Hazaribag constituency, where his father, Yashwant Sinha, had been nursed for years. Still, it was widely speculated that Jayant would lose the ticket to the Lok Sabha this time, given the senior Sinha’s diatribe against the BJP leaders, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Jayant, however, remained always silent on his father’s relations with the BJP.

The BJP’s decision to drop Sudarshan Bhagat from Lohardaga was also unsurprising. Although a blue-eyed boy of the RSS, Bhagat has not been active in his constituency. There were three serious contenders-Asha Lakra, Arun Oraon and Sameer Oraon-for the seat.

Know who contests from where?

Tala Marandi from Rajmahal

Sunil Soren from Dumka

Nishikant Dubey from Godda

Annapurna Devi from Koderma

Sanjay Seth from Ranchi

Vidyut Varan Mahato from Jamshedpur

Geeta Koda from Singhbhum

Manish Jaiswal from Hazaribagh

VD Ram from Palamu

Arjun Munda from Khunti

Sameer Oraon from Lohardaga
