Ranchi, Nov 6: Belying all speculations, Tadasha Mishra, a 1994-batch IPS officer of the Jharkhand cadre, has been appointed as the acting Director General of Police (DGP) of Jharkhand. The Home, Prisons, and Disaster Management Department issued the official notification on Thursday night.

Two senior IPS officers of the 1992 batch — Anil Palta and Prashant Singh — along with 1993-batch IPS officer M. S. Bhatia, were also in the race for the top post.
Notification on Tadasha Mishra

At present, Tadasha Mishra serves as the Special Secretary in the Home, Prisons, and Disaster Management Department of the Jharkhand Police.
However, Tadasha Mishra’s appointment as DGP is said to be a stopgap arrangement, as she has less than two months of service left and is not likely to get an extension under the existing rules set by the Supreme Court. According to the Apex Court’s guidelines, an IPS officer must have at least six months of tenure remaining to be considered by the UPSC for recommendation to the post of DGP.
Earlier, the Jharkhand government accepted the resignation of former DGP Anurag Gupta, who had submitted his resignation two days ago.
Recently, Mishra was transferred from the post of Additional Director General (ADG) of Railways and appointed as Special Secretary in the Home, Prisons, and Disaster Management Department. She is due to retire in December 2025.
Throughout her career, she has held several key positions, including ADG of Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) and Railway ADG.
