Lucknow, April 16: For the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) unveiled a fresh list of 11 candidates on Tuesday.

In the parliamentary seat of Varanasi, the BSP has selected Athar Jamal Lari to run against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the polls.

The candidates and constituencies

As per the new list, Shrikala Singh, the wife of incarcerated former gangster-turned-politician Dhananjay Singh, has been nominated to contest from the Jaunpur constituency, while the Mainpuri Lok Sabha candidacy has been reassigned to Shiv Prasad Yadav.

Muslim Khan has been fielded by the BSP in Budaun, while Chhotelal Gangwar is running from Bareilly.

Kranti Pandey is the party’s candidate in Farrukhabad, while Udraj Verma will run from the Sultanpur seat.

Khwaja Shamsuddin will run from Domariaganj, while Mayank Dwivedi will run for the Banda seat.

Lallan Singh Yadav has been fielded by the party in Ballia, while Umesh Kumar Singh will run from Ghazipur.

The BSP has decided against forging any alliances for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. Rather, it intends to independently vie for seats in the state.

Voting for the first and second phases is scheduled for April 19 and April 26, respectively. Subsequently, the state will undergo polling once more in phases three and four, set for May 7 and May 13.
