New Delhi, April 22: Jasprit Bumrah has been named the Leading Men’s Cricketer in the World in the 2024 Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack, following a record-breaking year where he became the first Test bowler to take 200 wickets at an average below 20.

His standout performance came in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, where he picked up 32 wickets at an average of 13.06, and he later played a crucial role in India’s victory in the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean.

Bumrah claimed 86 wickets in 21 matches across formats in 2024 before a back injury sidelined him, marking a return in the current IPL season after previous surgery in March 2023.

Smriti Mandhana completed an Indian sweep by being named the Leading Women’s Cricketer, having scored a record 1659 international runs in 2024—the highest ever in a calendar year by a woman cricketer. Her feats included four ODI centuries and a 149-run Test ton against South Africa in June.

West Indies star Nicholas Pooran was recognized as the Leading T20 Cricketer in the World, scoring 464 runs in 21 internationals at a strike rate of 142.33. He is currently the second-highest run-scorer in the IPL with 368 runs in eight matches.
