Jamshedpur, Jan 27: The Ghatshila-based Sona Devi University marked the
75th Republic Day on January 26, with a vibrant display of patriotism and national pride at its sprawling permanent campus.
Various programmes were organised as a part of the celebration. The Republic Day celebration was attended by the students, professors, staff and officers of the university.
Chancellor Prabhakar Singh
The celebration commenced with the dignified unfurling of the national tri-colour by the Chancellor of the University, Prabhakar Singh, setting the tone for a day of reflection and remembrance.
In his address to the faculty members, students and staff, the chancellor underscored the importance of upholding the Constitution and contributing to the nation’s development.
He emphasized the transformative power of happiness in increasing productivity and encouraged everyone to cultivate a positive mindset.

Singh stressed on the importance of Republic Day, the implementation of the constitutional process, the components of democracy, safeguarding the adherence to the Preamble of the Constitution and maintaining the unity and integrity of the country.

Vice Chancellor of the university, JP Mishra asked the students to understand the importance of democracy and make more efforts to strengthen democracy.

In the end, the Registrar of the university, Gulab Singh Azad expressed his gratitude to the audience of the Republic Day celebration and thanked the students, professors, staff and officers of the university for their active cooperation in making the program a success.
Diverse cultural event and competitions
The event saw cultural performances by faculty members and students, drama, quiz, poetry, singing, essay writing competition and a speech contest.
The event’s joyful conclusion, marked by resonant performances, encapsulated the spirit of unity and pride at this new university which started functioning last year.
It reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and harmonious community united in celebration and shared values.
Sweets were distributed at the end of the program.
