Dhanbad, Sept 28: Schools from Ranchi, Bokaro, and Jamshedpur emerged victorious in various age categories during the CBSE Cluster III basketball championship, which concluded at Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro.
Championship highlights
In the Under-19 girls’ category, JVM Shyamali Ranchi clinched the title by narrowly defeating Army Public School, Ranchi, with a score of 17-16. In the boys’ category, Vidya Bharti Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Jamshedpur triumphed over Army Public School, Ramgarh, securing their championship with a score of 44-37.
The Under-14 girls’ final saw Sree Ayyappa Public School triumph over Vidya Bharti Chinmaya Vidyalaya by a score of 11-04. In the boys’ final, Bokaro Public School outperformed Sree Ayyappa Public School, Bokaro, winning decisively with a score of 30-11.

In the Under-17 girls’ category, Baldwin Academy, Jamshedpur, showcased their skills by defeating Mahabodhi Tree School, Gaya, with a score of 22-02. In the boys’ final, MGM Bokaro emerged victorious against Sree Ayyappa Public School, Bokaro, with a score of 34-21.
64 teams from Bihar and Jharkhand
The closing ceremony featured Umakant Singh, coach of the Indian national girls’ basketball team, as the chief guest. He, along with CBSE observer Dr. A.S. Gangwar, principal of DPS Bokaro and chairman of the organizing committee, felicitated the winners.
An organizing committee member noted that a total of 64 teams from the Bihar and Jharkhand regions participated in the four-day championship, which is regarded as one of the most competitive and spirited tournaments in the region.

Chief guest Umakant Singh, along with CBSE observer Santosh Kumar and technical representative Priyeranjan Kumar Singh, commended the efforts and spirit of all participating students.
Principal Dr A.S. Gangwar expressed his gratitude to all officials, coaches, and participants for their active involvement, which contributed to the tournament’s grand success.
