New Delhi, June 13: National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval will continue in his present role in the Narendra Modi-led NDA government.

On Thursday, the Appointment Committee of Cabinet approved the appointment of Ajit Doval as the National Security Advisor, effective from June 10, 2024.
In the previous BJP-led NDA government, Doval continued in his position as NSA, having first taken on the role in May 2014, just after PM Modi took office for the first time.

A senior IPS officer from the 1968 batch, Doval is widely recognized as an expert in counter-terrorism and nuclear affairs. He has held key positions, including operational chief of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in Punjab.

“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Ajit Doval, lPS (Retired) as National Security Adviser with effect from 10.06.2024. His appointment will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier. During the term of his office, he will be assigned the rank of Cabinet Minister in the Table of Precedence,” the notice from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet read.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has also announced PK Mishra’s continuation as the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
