Ranchi, May 23: Amid rising temperatures and heatwave conditions across Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed officials across the state to ensure immediate relief measures for the public, especially the availability of drinking water at government offices and public places.

The Chief Minister instructed all Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, Station House Officers, Circle Officers, Block Development Officers and Panchayat representatives to make adequate arrangements for drinking water for passersby and the general public.
He also directed officials to install clear signboards indicating the availability of drinking water facilities so that people can easily access relief during the ongoing heatwave.

“During this period of severe heat, the administration must function with complete sensitivity, promptness and a humanitarian approach. Public interest is paramount,” Hemant Soren said.
The Chief Minister issued the directions in view of the intense summer conditions prevailing in several districts of the state.

Instructions to Tackle Water Crisis
Hemant Soren further directed Deputy Commissioners to ensure immediate water supply through tankers in areas facing drinking water shortages.
He also asked officials to repair defunct hand pumps and make alternative arrangements wherever necessary.
“It is our collective responsibility to ensure that people in any village, hamlet or locality do not face hardship due to a shortage of drinking water,” the Chief Minister said.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister reiterated that public welfare should remain the top priority during the ongoing heatwave situation.
He stressed that the administration must carry out its duties with urgency and compassion to protect people from heat-related hardships.
