Adityapur (Seraikela-Kharsawan), Jan 9: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday inaugurated the first batch of the MBBS course at Netaji Subhash Medical College and Hospital in Adityapur, Seraikela-Kharsawan, and said the state is steadily moving towards strengthening its healthcare ecosystem.

Boost to medical education in smaller districts

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister said the opening of new medical colleges and hospitals is paving the way for quality medical education and modern healthcare facilities. He described the establishment of a medical college in a small district like Seraikela-Kharsawan as a commendable step that will help create a better educational environment.

Message to MBBS students

Congratulating students admitted to the first MBBS batch, Soren said a new batch would be added every year, and the institution would be fully established in the next five years. “Society will have high expectations from you. I am confident that you will serve society as excellent doctors,” he said.

Healthcare infrastructure being strengthened

The Chief Minister said continuous efforts are underway to strengthen the state’s health infrastructure so that more medical colleges, hospitals, diagnostic centres and doctors come to Jharkhand. He said the government is working to build a system that provides high-quality education along with modern medical facilities.

Target of 25–30 medical colleges in five years

Soren said the state is moving forward to increase the number of medical colleges to 25–30 in the next five years. “Challenges are there, but the joy of working comes from overcoming them,” he added.

Dignitaries present

Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari, Lok Sabha MP Joba Manjhi, MLAs Dashrath Gagrai, Savita Mahto, Samir Mohanty, Mangal Kalindi, Somesh Chandra Soren, former minister Banna Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Ajay Kumar Singh, and Chairman of Netaji Subhash Medical College and Hospital Madan Mohan Singh were among those present.
