Ranchi/Ramgarh, Aug 4: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday paid floral tributes to his father, Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, on the first anniversary of his death, describing the veteran tribal leader as both his father and mentor while asserting that people across Jharkhand continue to remember his enduring legacy.
After paying his respects at Shibu Soren’s Morhabadi residence in Ranchi, the Chief Minister addressed the media and responded to questions on the ongoing JPSC controversy. He said the state government was closely monitoring every aspect of the issue and remained fully alert.
“The government is fully aware of the situation and is keeping a close watch on every aspect. We are working in the best interests of Jharkhand,” Hemant Soren said.
Government Taking Students’ Concerns Seriously
Responding to the ongoing student agitation over the alleged JPSC paper leak and related demands, the Chief Minister said the government was treating the matter with utmost seriousness and would take an appropriate decision at the right time.
“The concerns and demands of the students are being examined seriously. A decision will be taken at the appropriate time after considering all relevant aspects. I hope students will continue to have faith in the government’s intentions,” he said.
Hemant Soren added that investigations and other necessary processes were underway across multiple levels in the state.
“Investigative agencies are actively examining all alleged irregularities and lapses. The government will make its decision public once the investigation is completed and all facts are established,” he said.
Kalpana Soren Calls It an Emotional Day for Jharkhand
Gandey MLA Kalpana Soren said Shibu Soren’s first death anniversary was an emotional occasion not only for the Soren family but for the people of Jharkhand as a whole.
Referring to the ongoing student protests over the JPSC issue, she said the Chief Minister was deeply sensitive to the matter and that the state government was working towards an appropriate resolution.
“This is an emotional moment not just for our family but for every family in Jharkhand. The government is sensitive to the concerns of the students and is making sincere efforts to resolve the issue,” she said.
Statue of Shibu Soren Unveiled in Nemra; Development Projects Worth ₹5 Crore Launched
Ramgarh: A life-size statue of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren was unveiled in his ancestral village, Nemra, on the occasion of his first death anniversary. The ceremony was attended by several ministers, legislators and senior leaders of the Jharkhand government.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth around ₹5 crore during a ‘Vikas Mela’ organised in the village.
Thousands Gather to Honour Jharkhand’s ‘Dishom Guru’
An atmosphere of reverence prevailed in Nemra as thousands of supporters, party workers and villagers from different parts of Jharkhand gathered to pay homage to the veteran leader.
The event was marked by emotional tributes, with many recalling Shibu Soren’s lifelong struggle for the rights of tribal communities, the Jal, Jangal, and Zameen movement, and the creation of the separate state of Jharkhand.
14-Foot Statue Unveiled at Sona-Sobaran School
A 14-foot-tall statue of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren was unveiled at the Sona-Sobaran School campus as part of the commemorative programme.
Alongside the unveiling, the government organised a Vikas Mela, where beneficiaries received assets and assistance worth several crores under various welfare schemes.
Posters Showcase Legacy and Jharkhand Movement
Roads leading from Gola to Nemra were lined with posters, hoardings and exhibitions depicting Shibu Soren’s life, his struggle for Jal, Jangal and Zameen, his leadership in the Jharkhand movement and his role in national politics.
Decorative welcome arches installed along the approach roads added to the significance of the occasion.
Many attendees said Shibu Soren devoted his entire life to protecting Jharkhand’s identity, securing the rights of its people and achieving statehood. They said fulfilling his vision for the state’s development would be the most fitting tribute to his legacy.
Elaborate Security Arrangements
The Ramgarh district administration made extensive security arrangements for the high-profile event.
Police personnel and magistrates were deployed at the main venue, the statue site, the Sobaran Soren Balidan Sthal, the helipad and other strategic locations. Senior officials inspected the arrangements in advance, while security forces remained on high alert across the hilly stretches between Lukaiya Pahar and Nemra, as well as along rivers, streams and bridges.
