Jamshedpur, Dec 22: Cold wave continued to prevail across several parts of Jharkhand, with temperatures remaining below normal and dense fog affecting visibility at many locations, according to the latest realised weather report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi.

As per observations recorded at 8:30 am, Ranchi registered a maximum temperature of 23.6°C, slightly above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 9.2°C.

Jamshedpur recorded a cooler day with a maximum of 21.5°C, nearly 5°C below normal, and a minimum of 11.0°C.

Daltonganj remained the coldest during the day with a maximum temperature of just 18.5°C, around 7°C below normal, and a minimum of 6.5°C.

The highest maximum temperature in the state was reported at Jagannathpur in West Singhbhum at 24.1°C, while the lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Ranchi AMFU at 5.4°C.

No rainfall was reported from any station across the state during the past 24 hours.

Dense to moderate fog was observed at several places, including Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Daltonganj and Deoghar.

The lowest visibility was reported at AMS Deoghar, dropping to 200 metres, raising concerns for early morning commuters.

IMD reported a severe cold day condition at Daltonganj, while cold day conditions were observed at Bokaro Thermal and Chaibasa.

In the automated weather station data, several districts including Koderma, Hazaribagh and Gumla recorded minimum temperatures close to or below 8°C, indicating persistent cold conditions.

Meteorological officials have advised residents to take precautions against cold weather and poor visibility, especially during early morning and late-night hours, as chilly conditions are likely to continue in the coming days.
