Ranchi, September 7: The Jharkhand High Court has stayed the state government’s order cancelling appointments made through the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination under Advertisement No. 10/2023.

The order came during the hearing of a petition filed by Niroj and 244 other employees challenging the government’s decision to cancel their appointments. Justice Deepak Roshan directed the state government and the JSSC to file their responses by September 15.

Senior advocate Rajiv Ranjan, along with advocates Dipankar and Shrey Mishra, represented the petitioners.

Petitioners challenge cancellation of appointments

The petitioners have challenged the state government’s decision to cancel the JSSC-CGL examination and the appointments made through the recruitment process.

The development follows the state government’s decision last month to cancel several examinations based on findings emerging from a CID investigation. The government had also announced a wider probe into possible irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted since 2014.

22 examinations cancelled

Following the government’s announcement, the Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasha Department issued notifications relating to the cancellation, suspension and investigation of various recruitment examinations.

According to the notification, 22 examinations have been cancelled, six examination processes have been suspended and 17 examinations have been brought under the scope of investigation.

The High Court’s interim order on the JSSC-CGL appointments provides temporary relief to the 245 petitioners, while the matter will now come up for further consideration after the state government and JSSC file their responses.
