New Delhi, March 23: BRS leader K. Kavitha’s ED remand has been extended by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court until March 26.

As her ED custody came to an end today, the BRS leader was produced before the Special Judge in relation to the Delhi excise policy case. The ED has filed an application to extend K. Kavitha’s remand for an additional five days.

While requesting an additional five days of remand for the BRS leader, ED notified the court that searches are currently taking place at the home of Kavitha’s nephew, Mekha Saran.

Kavitha labels arrest as illegal and politically motivated

The BRS leader asserted that her arrest was illegal while she was being brought before the court on Saturday and said she would battle it in court.

“This is an illegal arrest. We are going to fight it out in court. It is a political case, a fabricated case, a false case. We are fighting it out. There is nothing new, they are asking the same things again and again,” Kavitha stated to the media.

After the verdict was announced, she commented on the numerous arrests during election periods, labelling them as politically motivated and urged the Election Commission of India to intervene.

“Why so many arrest during election time. political arrest. ECI should intervene,” she stated.

SC denied her bail yesterday

On Friday, yesterday, the Supreme Court denied her bail request in the case.

A bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna, MM Sundresh, and Bela M Trivedi instructed Kavitha to seek redressal from the trial court, emphasizing that adhering to this established procedure is a practice upheld by the court and cannot be circumvented.

The panel announced that regarding Kavitha’s petition contesting the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the court is serving notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and asking its response within a period of six weeks.

ED arrested Kavitha on March 15

Daughter of the late state chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Kavitha is a member of the Telangana Legislative Council.

She was arrested by the ED on March 15 following raids at her residence in Hyderabad and was subsequently placed in the custody of the ED until March 23 in relation to the case.
