Delhi govt rolls out ₹1 lakh crore Budget with 10 key focus areas

New Delhi, March 25: Delhi Chief Minister and Finance Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday presented a ₹1 lakh crore Budget for 2025-26, marking a 31.5% increase from the previous year.

She described it as a historic Budget, asserting that corruption and inefficiency had ended, with capital expenditure doubling to ₹28,000 crore.

A significant portion of the increased spending will enhance infrastructure, including roads, sewer networks, and water supply.

The Budget prioritizes 10 key sectors such as electricity, roads, water, and connectivity, with ₹1,000 crore set aside to improve transport links in Delhi-NCR.

In a major welfare initiative, ₹5,100 crore has been allocated to provide ₹2,500 per month to eligible women.

Healthcare services will also receive a boost, with ₹2,144 crore designated for the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The Chief Minister announced that Delhi residents will now receive ₹10 lakh in insurance coverage under Ayushman Bharat.

CM Rekha Gupta announced that ₹696 crore has been allocated for the development of slum clusters.

Additionally, ₹100 crore has been set aside in the FY26 Budget to establish 100 Atal Canteens across Delhi.

She also stated that ₹500 crore has been earmarked for cleaning the Yamuna River.

CM Gupta announced the creation of a ‘Traders’ Welfare Board’ and stated that a ‘Global Investment Summit’ will be held in Delhi biennially.
