New Delhi, March 24: The Delhi High Court has withdrawn judicial responsibilities from Justice Yashwant Varma with immediate effect, citing recent developments.

This follows a controversy stemming from a fire at his residence on March 14, where a large sum of cash was allegedly discovered.
Justice Varma has strongly refuted the claims, insisting neither he nor his family owns the money and alleging a conspiracy to frame him.

The Supreme Court, on Saturday night, made public an inquiry report by Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, who stated that the matter warrants deeper investigation.

Justice Varma, in his response, denied any connection to the cash, clarifying that it was found in an outhouse, separate from his main residence.
In light of the controversy, Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna has formed a three-member panel of senior judges to probe the allegations.
