Jamshedpur, August 26: Tata Steel UISL has stepped up dengue prevention and surveillance measures across its service areas, combining extensive household inspections, source reduction, enforcement and community awareness campaigns to keep the vector-borne disease under control.
Field teams have inspected more than 4.18 lakh houses and identified and destroyed 23,117 mosquito-breeding sources. Of these, 12,342 were found indoors, highlighting the need for residents to regularly inspect their homes and surroundings for stagnant water.
#PaltiMaar3 campaign takes dengue awareness to schools
A major component of the campaign has been the #PaltiMaar3 initiative, which has taken dengue prevention messages to schools and residential communities.
Street plays were organised in 86 schools, while live demonstrations of mosquito larvae were conducted in 27 schools to help students identify and eliminate potential breeding sites.
Surveillance activities covered 85 educational institutions, while 57 drum-beating awareness rallies were organised across residential societies to reinforce the message of dengue prevention.

Two vehicles deployed for source reduction
As part of sustained source-reduction efforts, two dedicated collection vehicles are operating continuously across the service areas.
The vehicles collect discarded containers and other materials capable of holding stagnant water while simultaneously spreading awareness among residents about the importance of eliminating mosquito-breeding sites.
JNAC informed about 2,189 premises
Enforcement has also been strengthened as part of the campaign.
As many as 2,189 premises with active mosquito-breeding sites were reported to the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) for necessary action.
In addition, 1,677 notices were issued directly to property owners, asking them to keep their premises clean and free of stagnant water.
Six dengue cases reported in district
The sustained prevention measures have yielded encouraging results so far, with six dengue cases reported across the district, including two cases within the Tata Steel UISL service area.
Rapid-response teams were deployed promptly at the affected locations, carrying out targeted vector-control measures and awareness activities to prevent further transmission.
Residents urged to remain vigilant
Officials have urged residents not to become complacent, stressing that dengue prevention begins at the household level.
People have been advised to regularly check coolers, flower pots, containers, drains, rooftops and other water-holding areas where mosquitoes can breed.
With surveillance, enforcement and community participation working together, Tata Steel UISL is seeking to keep dengue firmly under control while reinforcing the message that every household has a role to play in preventing the spread of the disease.
