Dhanbad, April 24: In a show of solidarity and grief, the Dhanbad District Table Tennis Association (DDTTA) cancelled its scheduled World Table Tennis Day celebrations in protest against the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The association strongly condemned the brutal incident, which claimed the lives of innocent tourists.

A condolence meeting was held on Wednesday evening at the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex, where members of the association paid tribute to the victims and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured.

“We are deeply pained by the barbaric terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed innocent lives. We strongly condemn this cowardly and despicable act of violence. The association expresses heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prays for the speedy recovery of the injured,” said Saket Sinha, Secretary of DDTTA, during the condolence gathering.

Sinha, who also serves as Vice President of both the Jharkhand Table Tennis Association and the Jharkhand Olympic Association, noted that the district association celebrates World Table Tennis Day with great enthusiasm every year. However, in light of the tragic event in Pahalgam, the celebration scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, was called off as a mark of protest and mourning.

Senior members of the association, including A.K. Gupta, Shashi Kumar, Om Prasad, C.K. Singh, Sanjeev Kumar, Subodh Kumar, P. Mondal, K. Mondal, A.K. Mahajan, Manik Roy, Kripa Shankar, Rajeev Kumar, M. Shadab, S.B. Mishra, and Binod Sinha, joined the meeting to pay their respects.
