DSPMU convocation: Success doesn’t occur overnight, it results from hard work, says Jharkhand governor

Ranchi, Feb 22: Governor-cum-Chancellor of State Universities of Jharkhand C.P. Radhakrishnan said on Thursday that attending Convocation is a significant milestone in the academic journey of graduating students. He was addressing a huge gathering of students on the occasion of the first convocation ceremony of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi.

Governor emphasizes lifelong learning and societal contribution

The Governor said that the Convocation is a moment of joy and satisfaction and will forever be engraved in memory of the students. He added, “Let me remind you that your education doesn’t end here; it’s the foundation upon which you’ll build your future endeavours. The knowledge and values you’ve acquired here will guide you through the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead”.

He exhorted students to dream big. He said that success doesn’t happen overnight; it results from hard work, determination and perseverance. He further added that education is not just about personal gain but also about contributing to the betterment of society.

He asked students to use education and skills to impact the community and society positively. Addressing the students he said, “Your achievements should not only benefit you alone but also uplift those around you”.

He said that the institution should help the students to achieve their potential. “Just the building or infrastructure cannot measure the identity of the institution. It is the performance of the students that establishes the identity of the university. The youth of our country have designed the growth story of Bharat”, he added.

VC sets vision for future success; highlights DSPMU’s achievements, facilities

The Vice Chancellor of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU), Ranchi Prof. (Dr.) Tapan Kumar Shandilya said that the first convocation of the university is a historical moment for the University.

Exhorting the students to prepare themselves for future endeavours, Prof. Shandilya added that Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University has a rich and diversified history with its root in Ranchi College, Ranchi which was established in the year 1926.

Offering congratulations to all graduating students, Prof. Shandilya said that DSPMU has been recognized as an institution for imparting high-quality teaching and research. He added, “Two students of our University from B. Sc. – Computer Applications Sem. V, Uma Shankar Oraon and Ujjwal Rathore have been awarded by NASA for identifying bugs in their website”.

Prof. Shandilya said that the DSPMU has focused on developing research facilities. New labs have been established in various departments. Resources have been generated by the faculties through sponsored research projects. Faculty members of the University are actively involved in consultancy projects from various industries, he added.

He said that the University is continuously making outstanding contributions towards the society. Talking about the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding Viksit Bharat, Sashakt Bharat Prof. Shandilya said, “We cannot stop until this dream of a developed India is fulfilled”.

“To achieve the motto of Viksit Bharat @ 2047 of the Prime Minister, the students of our University are continuously striving hard to achieve this mission”, he added.

Gold medal to 198 students

3227 students were awarded graduate degrees whereas 4033 students were awarded post graduate degrees. Four students were awarded Ph.D. Degree. 198 students received gold medals for their outstanding performance in the qualifying examinations.

Apart from Registrar of the DSPMU Dr. Namita Singh, Dr. Shama Sonali and Dr. Suchi Santosh Barwar anchored the ceremony. Dr. S.M. Abbas proposed a vote of thanks. The Convocation Ceremony started with the Academic Procession.

The Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, Head and co-ordinators of all the Departments, members of the Syndicate and the Senate were part of the procession.
