Ranchi, Dec 17: Dr Shailesh Kumar Mishra, Head of the Department of Sanskrit, Government Sanskrit College, Ranchi, said on Sunday that Shrimadbhagvadgita is the scripture of life management.

He addressed the gathering on the occasion of Shri Gita Jayanti as the chief guest organised at the Department of Sanskrit, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi.

He said that the Gita is the essence of the vast knowledge in the scriptures. “By following the teachings of Gita, we can make our life successful, beautiful and prosperous,” he said.

Philosophy of the Gita

“Every person seeking welfare should implement the philosophy of the Gita in his life.”

He further said that today, the fear of corruption, terrorism, disease and epidemics is prevalent worldwide. “At such a time, the teachings of Gita become even more relevant, which purifies a man’s mind and character and paves the way for material and spiritual progress in his life,” he added.

Sanatan tradition

Mishra said that Gita Jayanti is celebrated yearly on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha. “Gita Jayanti has excellent importance in the Sanatan tradition. Before the Mahabharata war, Lord Shri Krishna had preached the Gita to Arjun on this day; hence, it is celebrated as Jayanti.

Gita is an international book

In his presidential address, Dr. Dhananjay Vasudeo Dwivedi, Head of the Department of Sanskrit Department said that Srimad Bhagavad Gita is an international book in the true sense.

“There have been many translations of Gita in many languages. This is the most famous and popular book in India. Just as yoga is India’s gift to the entire world community, Yogashastra Gita is also the spiritual gift of Mother India to humanity. Gita is a life code for humanity, a spiritual lighthouse.”

“The Gita of only seven hundred verses summarises all the Vedas. Gita is a book in which solutions to all the doubts of practical life and spirituality are easily found. It has been explained in Gita that one has to give up the desire for results, but one has to give up laziness also. The right path is to work selflessly. Life becomes meaningful by renouncing both inaction and desires and continuing to do work.”

Gita manages human life

Departmental teacher Jagdamba Prasad said that Gita is a book that efficiently manages human life. “Whenever one suffers from stress, confusion, tension and depression, Gita presents appropriate solutions to all these problems,” he said.

On this occasion, the Sanskrit teacher of Sant Anna Girls School said that Gita is the essence of Vedic and folk literature of Sanskrit literature. The fundamental knowledge of what is causal and what is non-calculable can be obtained in the simplest form from the teachings of Gita, he added.

Vedic invocation

The programme started with a Vedic invocation presented by Shweta Pathak, Pallavi, Deepika, Amita, Poonam, etc. Jyotsna, Prerna, Rani etc, presented the cosmic prayer. Mamta Kumari and Rani Kumari conducted the programme. The guests were introduced by departmental teacher Shrimitra. Departmental teacher Jagdamba Prasad proposed the vote of thanks. Sarvotta captivated everyone’s heart by chanting the Gita. Kriti Pandey, Anamika, Shivam Narayan, Shubham, Neeraj, Avinash, Lalit, Abhishek, etc., also enthralled the people with their performances.
