Kolkata, Jan 15: As part of its investigation into the purported ration distribution scam in West Bengal, the Enforcement Directorate raided multiple locations on Monday that were connected to an arrested TMC leader and his associates.

They stated that all the places undergoing search operations were associated with TMC leader and former chairman of Bongaon Municipality, Shankar Adhya.

In order to conduct search operations, ED teams went to four locations in central Kolkata as well as the office of a chartered accountant at Salk Lake, which is on the eastern edge of the city, ED officials stated.

Personnel from the central force were observed guarding the area where the raids were taking place.

Earlier in the month, Adhya was taken into custody from his residence in Simultola, Bongaon, North 24 Parganas district, subsequent to search operations conducted by the agency at properties associated with him and his family members.

Adhya is known to have close ties with state minister Jyoti Priya Mallick, who was arrested last year in connection with the alleged scam.
