Daltonganj, June 22: A new educational initiative, COGNITUS, was launched on Sunday in Abadganj—Daltonganj’s emerging ‘education valley’—by former minister K.N. Tripathy. Spearheaded by a former DRDO scientist and a team of IIT alumni, the teaching hub aims to provide a strong conceptual foundation in core science subjects for school students.

A Vision for Academic Excellence

In his keynote address, Chief Guest K.N. Tripathy called on young people to pursue academic excellence as the foundation of innovation and leadership.

“Power does not come from the barrel of the gun but from the brain and mind,” Tripathy said. “The younger generation should sharpen their intellect and focus on studies.”

He praised the dedication of the COGNITUS team, expressing his confidence in their mission to inspire academic growth.

Meet the Team Behind COGNITUS

The founding members of COGNITUS include:

  • Isar Afzal, former DRDO scientist
  • M. Shabbir, alumnus of Jamia Millia Islamia
  • M. Zeya Ahmad, alumnus of NIT Warangal
  • Nilesh Kumar, MSc (Mathematics) from IIT Roorkee and MTech (Computer Science) from ISI Kolkata
  • Zishan, alumnus of Delhi University

In his address, Isar Afzal urged students to go beyond rote memorisation and focus on practical, real-world learning.

“Learning should be meaningful and applicable. Mugging up without understanding won’t lead to innovation,” he advised.

Free 21-Day Crash Course Offered

To mark its inauguration, COGNITUS is offering a 21-day free crash course for students in Classes 7 to 12. The course will cover the basics of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, with an emphasis on conceptual clarity and application.

With a team of highly qualified educators and a clear vision to uplift student learning in the region, COGNITUS sets a strong precedent for academic innovation in Jharkhand.
