Dhanbad, May 11: BIT Sindri came alive this Sunday as students, faculty, and tech enthusiasts gathered to mark National Technology Day 2025, celebrating innovation, youth leadership, and the transformative power of technology.

The campus buzzed with energy as a trio of dynamic events—Fresher of the Year Contest, Dhativika, and a high-stakes 36-hour Hackathon—showcased the talent, creativity, and vision of BIT Sindri’s budding technocrats.

Inspiring Innovation: Eminent Guests Set the Tone
The event was graced by Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director of IIT-ISM Dhanbad, who urged students to “think beyond boundaries and develop impactful solutions for the world.”
Prof. D.K. Singh, Vice Chancellor of Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT), Ranchi, delivered an inspiring address on the future of tech-driven education and the critical role of research, innovation, and leadership in shaping tomorrow’s world.

Fresher of the Year: Talent Meets Celebration
Organised by the LEO Club, the Fresher of the Year Contest was a vibrant cultural showcase celebrating the arrival of first-year students. With music, dance, and spirited performances, the event offered a creative platform for newcomers to express themselves and connect with the BIT Sindri community.
Dhativika: Metallurgy for Tomorrow
Hosted by the Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Dhativika focused on the theme “Metal for Tomorrow”, exploring the intersection of sustainability and metallurgical innovation. The programme featured expert talks, technical exhibits, and student-led demonstrations that underlined the future-facing role of material science.

Hack the Future: National Hackathon Pushes Boundaries
The 36-hour Hackathon, organised by the Hackathon and Coding Club, invited tech minds from across India to tackle real-world problems using next-generation technology. Based on the theme “Hack the Future”, the event fostered intense collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving under pressure.
Dr. S.C. Dutta and Md. Akram Khan served as convener and co-convener of the event, respectively.
Vision and Mentorship: Leaders Share Wisdom
From the Career Development Centre (CDC), Prof. Ghanshyam emphasised the value of discipline and perseverance in personal and professional growth.
Key industry voices, including Deepak Kumar (STPI Sindri) and Masoom Mallick (Director, TECHNiX India), encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship and homegrown technologies.
Dr. Dinesh Prabhakar, Assistant Professor at NIAMT Ranchi, shared valuable insights into AI-driven innovation and research-led solutions.
Representatives from BITSAA, including Prafull Kumar (President) and Ms. Sweta Kumari (Secretary), urged participants to translate their hackathon ideas into real-world impact with the support of the alumni network.
