Jamshedpur, March 14: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda celebrated the Sarhul festival with traditional rituals at his residence in Ghorabandha, Jamshedpur on Saturday.

On the occasion, he performed Sarhul puja along with his family, praying for the protection of nature, water, forests and land, and for the peace, prosperity and well-being of the state and the country.
Symbol of tribal culture and respect for nature
Speaking on the occasion, Munda said that Sarhul is a living symbol of Jharkhand’s rich tribal culture, deep faith in nature and community unity. The festival conveys the message of expressing gratitude to nature and protecting jal, jangal and zameen (water, forests and land).

He said that the world today is facing serious challenges such as climate change, environmental pollution, deforestation and loss of biodiversity. In such times, traditional festivals like Sarhul teach people to live in balance and harmony with nature.
Strengthening cultural roots and social harmony
Munda said that Sarhul is not just a festival but a symbol of tribal traditions, cultural heritage and the deep bond between people and nature. It strengthens mutual harmony, cooperation and unity in society and inspires people to remain connected to their cultural roots.
He added that protecting water, forests and land is not only the responsibility of the tribal community but of the entire society and humanity. The traditional culture of living in balance with nature can provide important guidance in addressing global environmental challenges.
