Kolkata, June 17: Police reported that the body of a fourth-year student from IIT Kharagpur was found hanging in her hostel on Monday.
According to a senior police officer, the deceased student has been identified as 21-year-old Devika Pillai.
The IPS officer stated that the female student was discovered hanging from the ceiling of the hostel building. It is still uncertain whether it was a case of suicide or something else, and an investigation into her death has been initiated.

The officer further stated that the body has been taken to Kharagpur Sub-Divisional Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The police officer mentioned that Pillai, who was from Kerala, was a fourth-year student.
An IIT Kharagpur source confirmed that Pillai, a fourth-year student from the Department of Biotechnology, was found hanging from the ceiling of Sarojini Naidu Hostel Hall in the morning.
