THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Ranchi, March 11: Notorious gangster Aman Sahu, who had become a major challenge for Jharkhand Police, was killed in an encounter. The incident took place on Tuesday morning in Andhari Dhoda, Chainpur, Palamu. The Jharkhand Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) team shot down the gangster.

According to the information available, criminals from Aman Sahu’s gang first attacked the police convoy with a bomb. Taking advantage of the chaos, Aman Sahu snatched an INSAS rifle from a police personnel, shot him, and tried to escape.

Following this, the ATS team went into action mode and ordered Aman Sahu to surrender. However, he attempted to flee while firing at the police. In self-defense, the ATS team retaliated, shooting Aman Sahu, who died on the spot.

Meanwhile, the injured police personnel has been admitted to a hospital for treatment. The police have taken control of the situation and started an investigation. Security agencies are also probing other aspects related to the incident.

Aman Sahu shifted across 10 jails in 2.5 years

Notably, gangster Aman Sahu, who was lodged in Raipur jail, had been transferred between different prisons ten times over the past three years. Despite this, his reign of terror showed no signs of ending. Even from jail, he continued to threaten businessmen across various districts and extort money.

Aman Sahu had written a petition to the Chief Justice of the High Court, claiming that a conspiracy was being hatched to kill him. He alleged that police officers, coal mafias, and politicians were involved in the plot and that his repeated transfers between prisons were part of this conspiracy.

Aman Sahu had escaped from Barkagaon Police custody

Notably, on September 24, 2019, Aman Sahu was taken into custody by Hazaribagh Police from Ramgarh Jail. At the time, no case was registered against him, and he was released on bail. He was detained for questioning in connection with the murder of a JMM leader in the Urimari police station area of Hazaribagh.

However, in a dramatic turn of events, Aman Sahu escaped from Barkagaon police station on the night of September 28-29, 2019. Following this, a police team formed by the then Ranchi SSP, Surendra Jha, arrested him in 2020.
