Hazaribag, Nov 28: A 12-minute film named ‘Gauri in Love’ written and directed by Delhi-based Sanjay Bharti has won the best awareness award in the fourth Jharkhand film festival organised in Jamshedpur from Nov.1 to Nov.7.
Bharti said he showed the struggle of a woman through this film which gives the message of women empowerment.
Mukesh Ram Prajapati and Sweta Bharti played the lead roles and are a couple in this film. Prajapati said this film deals with a situation that comes in the life of people who works as a labourer. He said live-in relationship is time pass and fun for people of the upper class. “But when labourer class people start living in relationships, a number of problems come in their life which this film had dealt with,” added he.
Prajapati told The Jharkhand Story that when Gauri became pregnant, her live-in partner expressed his happiness but refused her proposal of getting married. The 12-minute film is a story of a woman, her mindset, and her struggle while dealing with the situation which was the outcome of life in a relationship.
Prajapati said this was the reason why jury members liked this film and announced the award in a special category. About Sanjay Bharti, he said he had made documentary films for central and state governments as well. He came to Hazaribag from Delhi and the film was shot in a day, he said.
