Ranchi, April 12: Ahead of the special Parliament session on the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, BJP State Vice President and former Chaibasa MP Geeta Koda on Sunday said that the vision of a “Developed India” by 2047 cannot be achieved without the active participation of women.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP State Office in Ranchi, Koda—who was recently inducted into the new BJP state team formed by Aditya Sahu—described the proposed 33% reservation for women in legislatures as a “historic and revolutionary step.”

Koda, who is also the wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, said the Act reflects a shift where women are no longer just beneficiaries but are becoming key drivers of nation-building.

Women moving from beneficiaries to leaders

Crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for prioritising women’s empowerment, she said the legislation gives women dignity and a meaningful role in governance.

Highlighting government initiatives, she said:

  • 33 crore women have been linked to bank accounts
  • 69% of Mudra loan beneficiaries are women
  • Over 10 crore women are part of Self-Help Groups
  • 14.45 crore households have tap water under Jal Jeevan Mission
  • Over 10 crore women received LPG connections under Ujjwala Yojana
  • Women have ownership in more than 74% of houses under PM Awas Yojana

She added that women have already demonstrated leadership in panchayat and urban local body elections in Jharkhand.

Call for opposition support ahead of special session

With a special Parliament session scheduled from April 16 to 18, Koda urged opposition parties to support the Act and ensure greater representation of women in Assemblies and Parliament.

She said increased participation of women in policymaking would naturally lead to better resolution of issues related to safety and development.

During the press conference, she also launched a dedicated number—9667173333—through which citizens can register support for the Act by giving a missed call.

Several BJP leaders, including Arti Kujur, Seema Singh, Shobha Yadav, Neha Singh, and Payal Soni, were present at the event.
