Ghatshila bypoll result will surprise many, says Babulal Marandi

Ranchi, November 11: BJP State President and Leader of the Opposition, Babulal Marandi, today claimed that the NDA candidate is set for a big victory in the Ghatshila by-election 2025. Addressing a press conference at the party’s state headquarters, Marandi said that the increased voter turnout clearly reflects growing discontent with the Hemant Soren-led government in Jharkhand.

Marandi thanked the Election Commission for ensuring peaceful polling and expressed gratitude to the people of Ghatshila for their enthusiastic participation in the “festival of democracy.”

‘Public Anger Against JMM Visible in High Turnout’

Babulal Marandi said that by 5 PM, approximately 74% polling had been recorded in Ghatshila — a figure likely to increase once final data is compiled. He asserted that the high voter turnout indicates people’s dissatisfaction with the JMM government and growing support for the NDA alliance.

“The fear of JMM was visible in the constituency they once considered safe. Their workers tried to intimidate voters in the early hours, but due to the vigilance of BJP workers and the Election Commission’s supervision, their efforts failed,” Marandi said.

He added that the increased voting percentage reflects public frustration over false promises and misgovernance by the Hemant Soren administration.

Marandi on Delhi Blast: ‘Terrorists Now Frustrated by Modi Government’s Policy’

Referring to the recent bomb blast in Delhi, Marandi said the incident shows that terrorists are adopting new methods out of frustration due to the Modi government’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism.

He recalled the arrest of Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed from a reputed Ranchi hospital in August 2024, who was allegedly linked to Al-Qaeda.

“He was reportedly working as a doctor during the day and operating for Al-Qaeda at night,” Marandi said, criticising the Jharkhand government’s silence on the issue while praising the Delhi Police and central agencies for swift action.

‘NDA Will Return to Power in Bihar with Massive Majority’

Responding to media questions on the Bihar elections, Marandi said that the bumper voter turnout in Bihar is a clear sign that people continue to trust the NDA government.

“The voting percentage is even higher than the first phase, showing strong faith in the NDA’s leadership. The people of Bihar have voted for stability and progress, and the NDA will return with a massive majority,” he said.

BJP State Secretary Saroj Singh and BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo were also present at the press conference.
