Ranchi, Sept 22: Acting Chief Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad today said that God does not forgive those children who leave their parents in old age homes when they become old.
Inaugurating Atal Clinic at Apna Ghar, Old-Age-Home, Hesag, Justice Prasad said that all the elderly parents are our guardians.
“They have the right to get benefits. The work of those who are serving the elderly mothers and fathers is commendable,” he said.
Justice Prasad becomes emotional
Chastising those who desert their parents, Justice Prasad became emotional and said that a mother carries her child in her womb for nine months and the same child after growing up leaves his parents in an old age home. “This is wrong,” he added.
He further said that illness starts after one becomes old, at that time there is a need for medicine and treatment. “With this objective ‘Atal Clinic’ has been inaugurated so that old mothers and the needy can get immediate medicine and treatment. Our purpose in coming here is to meet all of you, to face your problems and solve them and to get your blessings. We are also your children,” he told the residents of the old age home.
Elderly persons honoured
On this occasion, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organised an awareness programme for elderly persons.
All the old people were given the acceptance letter of the Chief Minister’s old age pension, Aadhar card, and voter. They were honoured by giving cards, Post Office Digital Bank Account Cards and gift hampers.
Ranchi DLSA Chairman cum Judicial Commissioner Diwakar Pandey said that such programmes will be organised in future also so that the elderly Ammas can get benefits. “Along with this, after the opening of Atal Clinic, the health check-ups of Ammas will be done regularly and proper treatment will be provided,” he added.
JHALSA Member Secretary Kumari Ranjana Asthana said that today’s programme is dedicated to the elderly in the entire state. “Today, in every district, the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority is organising legal awareness-cum-medical camps in old age homes,” she said.
