Hazaribag, March 2: In a major step towards ensuring financial security for government employees, Hazaribagh Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay spearheaded efforts to allot Provident Fund Account Numbers to nearly 6,000 employees under the New Pension Scheme within just two months. Additionally, pension payments for retired employees who had not received their dues have been processed under the Old Pension Scheme.

6,000 Employees Receive Provident Fund Numbers

Following the directives of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the District Pension and Accounts Directorate, along with the District Treasury Office, quickly executed the allotment of Provident Fund Account Numbers to employees across state and district offices in Hazaribagh. This move ensures smoother financial management and pension benefits for government staff.

Pension Disbursed to Retired Employees Under OPS

To support employees who retired before September 1, 2022, and had not received their New Pension Scheme (NPS) amount, the administration facilitated their transition to the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). Their government contributions and dividends from NPS accounts were transferred to the treasury, enabling them to receive OPS benefits.

This effort also included employees who had initially worked on a daily wage or contract basis before being regularized by the state government. Additionally, those who had already received their NPS deposits but wished to switch to OPS were given the option of returning the received amount to the government treasury.

Proactive Approach Ensures No Employee is Left Behind

Under Nancy Sahay’s leadership, District Treasury Officer Ujjwal Kumar Chaurasia personally reached out to 48 retired employees, including those who had moved away or whose contact details were unavailable. These individuals were called in, their funds were transferred via challan, and their pension forms were submitted to the Accountant General’s Office in Ranchi.

Efforts are still underway to extend pension benefits to other eligible retired employees who have yet to apply. For disabled pensioners, the Pension Office is providing doorstep services to ensure they receive their rightful benefits.

This initiative marks a significant step in securing the financial future of retired government employees, demonstrating effective governance and commitment to worker welfare.
