Heavy rain likely in Jharkhand’s isolated places over next four days

Jamshedpur, Oct 3: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert predicting heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activity over various parts of the state from October 3 to October 6, due to the impact of a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal.

On October 3, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over north-western and central parts of the state.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with a maximum speed of 30–40 Kmph may occur at isolated locations.

On October 4, heavy rainfall is expected in northern and adjoining central parts, as well as north-eastern regions.

Thunderstorm and lightning activity with gusty winds will continue at several places.

On October 5, isolated locations may receive heavy rainfall in north-eastern parts, while thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are likely across the state.

On October 6, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds are expected to occur at isolated places.

According to IMD officials, the deep depression over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal moved north-northwestwards.

The system continued moving north-northwestwards and crossed the Odisha and adjoining Andhra Pradesh coasts between Gopalpur and Paradip in the early hours of Friday.

IMD authorities have advised residents to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, and take precautions against lightning.

Monsoon Wrap-Up: Jharkhand Records 17% Surplus Rainfall

The four-month monsoon season from June to September concluded with an impressive 17% surplus.

According to IMD data, Jharkhand received 1,200 mm of rainfall against the normal average of 1,023 mm, marking a significantly wetter season this year.
