Jamshedpur, August 25: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activity in various parts of Jharkhand over the next few days due to an active low-pressure system and associated cyclonic circulations.
Forecast Details
August 25: Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over the south-western parts of the state. Thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds (30–40 kmph) may occur at isolated places across Jharkhand.
August 26: Thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are expected at isolated places.

August 27: Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over the south-eastern parts of Jharkhand. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds may also occur.

August 28: Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are expected at isolated locations.
August 29: Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in the state.
Synoptic Situation
A low-pressure area over west Jharkhand and adjoining regions shifted to northeast Madhya Pradesh with an associated upper-air cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.
This system is expected to move west-northwestwards before gradually weakening.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently extends from Bikaner, Jaipur, Gwalior, Prayagraj, the centre of the low-pressure system over northeast Madhya Pradesh, further through Purulia, Digha, and southeastwards into the northeast Bay of Bengal.

Another cyclonic circulation persists over central north Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas of south Uttar Pradesh, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.
A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha–West Bengal costs within the next 24 hours, which may further enhance rainfall activity.
