The weather activity is being driven by a well-marked low-pressure area lying over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas of north coastal Odisha, Jharkhand and the northwest Bay of Bengal.

An associated cyclonic circulation extends up to around 7.6 km above mean sea level and is tilted southwestwards with height, according to the IMD.

Low-pressure system to move across Jharkhand

The weather system is likely to move west-northwestwards across north Odisha and Jharkhand during the next 48 hours, sustaining moisture inflow and triggering rainfall over the state.

The IMD has forecast rain at most places to almost all places across Jharkhand, with isolated pockets likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.
