Shimla, Feb 28: Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania suspended 15 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs from the assembly on Wednesday, accusing them of creating ruckus in his chamber.

The suspended MLAs

15 BJP MLAs, including Jai Ram Thakur, Dalip Thakur, Inder Singh Gandhi, Vipin Parmar, Randhir Sharma, Hans Raj, Vinod Kumar, Janak Raj, Deep Raj, Balbir Verma, Puran Chand, Ranbir Nikka, Lokinder Kumar, Trilok Jamwal and Surinder Shourie were suspended from the House.

The Speaker suspended the BJP legislators following a proposal from State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan to expel the MLAs from the house.

BJP accuses Congress of maneuvering to prevent govt collapse

The BJP, on the other hand, has labelled this as a manoeuvre by the Congress to forestall the collapse of its government prior to the Budget session.

Harsh Mahajan, the BJP’s victorious Rajya Sabha candidate, stated, “Congress Government is toppling. So such attempts are being made – to suspend them. These are delay tactics and are followed in every Vidhan Sabha…Congress has dismantled from here. All the attempts they make now will fail. BJP will form the Government here…Nine MLAs (who cross-voted) are in my support…”

Congress’ Vikramaditya Singh resigns as state minister

There is political uproar after the victory of BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan in the elections held in Himachal Pradesh and the defeat of ruling Congress candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi due to cross-voting.

Virbhadra Singh’s son and state minister Vikramaditya Singh has resigned from the Sukhu-led Congress government. He said that he has informed Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge in this regard.
