Giridih, March 4: Jailed former Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren today plunged into politics on the 51st foundation celebration of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
Kalpana played the sympathy card while addressing a massive gathering of JMM leaders, workers, and supporters. She said that Hemant Soren left his chair only because he did not bow down before anyone.
“Seeing the morale of all our MLAs and workers present here today, we have shown that Jharkhand will never bow down,” she said.
Kalpana targets BJP
During this, she fiercely targeted the BJP. She said that Hemant ji had been sent to jail as part of a conspiracy. “She had gone to Hotwar jail to meet him on Sunday, her birthday. During this, Hemant Soren encouraged her and said, I am in jail, but I am alive. Don’t panic. Jharkhand has never bowed before anyone. I, too, will not bow down,” Kalpana, fluent in English, said, making everyone emotional with her address.
Delhi people have hearts that don’t beat
She said that the people of Delhi have a heart, but it does not beat. They consider tribals as insects, she added.

Kalpana belongs to Odisha
Addressing her political rally in tribal language for the first time as a mature leader, 47-year-old Kalpana said that she is the daughter-in-law of Jharkhand (she belongs to Odisha). “Still, she is ready to take responsibility as a daughter of the State,” Kalpana, an engineering graduate with an MBA degree, said.
Earlier in the afternoon, Kalpna visited the famous Majhithan based in the Hilly terrain of Parshwanath and offered prayers there.
Later, speaking to media persons on choosing Giridih to launch her political career, Kalpana said, “It’s not about choosing Giridih. We always have heart in every part of Jharkhand. This is only the one thing that everyone had… It’s a sthapna diwas in Giridih. So, we are just a part of this function which our JMM party is organising. So, we are very excited about it,” said Kalpana.
Notably, she declared yesterday that she will enter public life. She wrote on X: “Today, before attending JMM’s foundation day program in Giridih on my birthday, I took blessings from the creator of Jharkhand state and Honorable President of JMM, respected Baba Dishom Guruji and mother. She also met Hemant Ji this morning.
My father was in the Indian Army. He has retired from the army. Father stayed in the military and faced the enemies of the country boldly. Since childhood, he also taught me to struggle and fight for the truth without fear.”
On the demand of the people of Jharkhand and innumerable hardworking workers of the JMM family, I am starting my public life from tomorrow. Until Hemant Ji comes among us, I will continue to be his voice, share his thoughts with you all, and continue to serve you.”
Chief Minister Champai Soren, who arrived a day earlier, inaugurated a dairy plant worth Rs 66.69 crores.
Besides Chief Minister Champai Soren, minister Hafizul Hussan, Dumri MLA Bebi Devi, MP Mahua Majhi, Tundi MLA Mathura Prasad Mahto, Giridih MLA Sudivya Kumar Sonu, former MLA Sarfaraj Ahmed, Jayprakash Verma he also addressed the foundation day rally.
